1st Trip for Ujima Garden!!!

Today the kids at Ujima Garden went to Prospect Park to learn about what Native Americans used to eat.  They were introduced to some plants like pepper grass, black walnut, garlic, mustard, clover, lady thumb and more. The students also learned how to identify harmful plants like poison ivy, alongside edible plants, which they were able to taste-test.  At day’s end, they munched on popcorn, almonds, raisins and pretzels for a healthy, easy-to-pack snack.

That’s so cool, on yet another hot day! The urban gardeners became urban foragers. Totally cool, I love foraging myself!
